HONOLULU, Feb. 14, 2017 – The Hawaiian Electric Companies now offer the free eSSENTIAL Accessibility assistive technology app so customers, regardless of ability, can access all three company websites seamlessly and hands-free.
Customers with physical disabilities such as paralysis, stroke, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, cerebral palsy, low vision, dyslexia and other learning or reading issues can now pay bills, get energy-saving information, compare rates and sign up for savings.
Customers can download the assistive technology app onto their desktop and mobile devices and take advantage of the app’s hands-free mouse, voice commands, visual click-assist, on-screen keyboard and text-to-speech capability.
By joining eSSENTIAL Accessibility’s coalition of organizations, the Hawaiian Electric Companies are creating a more inclusive digital experience for customers.
“Electricity is essential to everyone in our community and this is another part of our effort to provide access to our services for as many people as possible,” said Jim Alberts, Hawaiian Electric senior vice president for customer service.
“We are excited to partner with the Hawaiian Electric Companies and provide an innovative accessibility solution that delights,” said Simon Dermer, managing director of eSSENTIAL Accessibility. “Now all customers can seamlessly engage with Hawaiian Electric, Maui Electric and Hawaii Electric Light digitally.”
