The Toronto Parking Authority (TPA), branded as “Green P”, the largest municipal parking provider in North America, has joined a group of global brands in a coalition led by Toronto-headquartered MarketAbility — a company that helps organizations and brands reach, serve and empower people with disabilities. Through the coalition, Green P offers MarketAbility’s proprietary assistive technology application, eSSENTIAL Accessibility, on its website, www.greenp.com, which will allow commuters with disabilities easier access to the information they need to safely and efficiently travel and park in the city of Toronto.

The eSSENTIAL Accessibility platform provides a suite of keyboard and mouse replacement solutions, among other tools, designed to help people with physical, learning and age-related disabilities get online. The app is free of charge to end users and can be downloaded by clicking the blue wheelchair and keyboard symbol located on the homepage of www.greenp.com.

“A large number of Torontonians already rely on us for safe, user-friendly and affordable on-street and off-street public parking,” said Lorne Persiko, President, TPA. “We’re taking that unparalleled experience to the next level by ensuring that all of our customers, regardless of their ability or vehicle type, are able to derive the same benefits as everyone else,” he says. “They can continue to go to work, shop and attend cultural and social events that directly contribute to Toronto’s sustainable economic growth.”

TPA also worked with MarketAbility to create the Toronto Parking Authority Disability Channel (https://www.levelaccess.com/toronto-parking-authority), a custom communications gateway to directly engage people with disabilities who are looking for Green P products and services that meet their unique needs. The channel hosts eSSENTIAL Accessibility app and also highlights many features and services available to Green P customers with disabilities, including:

  • TPA’s accessible customer service policy and other pertinent information for customers, employees and other people with disabilities
  • The Green P Parking Locator  map and mobile app, which includes accessible parking
  • Links to popular upcoming events in Toronto
  • TPA’s community involvement and social responsibility initiatives

“TPA is a great role model for city services as they recognize the need to engage people with disabilities across everything they do,” says Simon Dermer, Managing Director of eSSENTIAL Accessibility. “From facilitating access to parking, to ensuring information is available to everyone, regardless of ability, TPA is creating a better urban experience for all of Toronto’s residents and visitors,” he says.
